There's one of me. That's the whole pitch.
I'm Jake. I build websites for trades and small businesses across Sydney — plumbers, sparkies, painters, cafés, anyone who does good work and looks invisible online because of it.
Why I started doing this
I kept noticing the same thing. A bloke does excellent work, has a queue of happy customers, and you search his business name and find nothing — or a Facebook page that stopped in 2019 with no phone number on it.
Meanwhile someone half as good, two suburbs over, has a tidy website and gets the call. Not because they're better. Because they turned up when someone went looking.
The reason that gap exists isn't that tradies don't care. It's that the quotes they get back are $6,000 and full of words like "discovery phase", and the whole thing sounds like more hassle than it's worth. So it goes in the too-hard basket and stays there.
I thought that was a stupid reason for good businesses to lose work, so I built something for the other end of the market: a fixed price you can see before you commit, a real mockup before you pay anything, and one person you can actually ring.
How I actually work
Three things I hold to, because they're the parts that go wrong everywhere else.
You see it before you pay
I design your homepage first and send you a link. If it's not right, you walk and it hasn't cost you anything. You shouldn't have to trust a stranger who cold-called you — you should just be able to look.
The price doesn't move
You get the number in writing before I start. If something genuinely sits outside it, you hear about it beforehand. No invoice with a figure on it you haven't already agreed to.
Same person, every time
I quote it, I build it, I launch it, and I'm the one who fixes it at 7pm on a Sunday. Nothing gets lost in a handover because there isn't one.
What I'm not
I'd rather tell you this up front than have you find out three weeks in.
- I'm not an agency. There's no team, no office, no account manager, and no one to escalate to but me.
- I'm not the right call for a fifty-page corporate rebuild, a custom booking platform or anything with a procurement process attached.
- I don't do SEO retainers that promise page one. Anyone who guarantees you a ranking is guessing, and charging you for the guess.
- I won't sell you a website you don't need. If yours already loads fast, works on a phone and brings in enquiries, I'll tell you to keep it.
Being small is the trade-off, and it's a real one. What you get for it: no sales commission baked into your quote, no waiting three days for a reply, and the person who built your site being the person who answers the phone.
Where I work
I'm based on Sydney's Northern Beaches and I build for businesses right across Sydney — Western Sydney, the Hills, the Inner West, the Eastern Suburbs, the Sutherland Shire and everywhere between.
Almost all of it happens by phone, text and email, so where you are makes very little difference to how the job runs. If you'd rather sit down in person and you're somewhere I can reasonably get to, that's fine too — just ask.
